Refund & rescheduling policy

Plans change. Whenever they do, we want our refund and rescheduling rules to feel as straightforward as the booking itself. Below is exactly what you can expect, depending on how close you are to your visit.
Half of your ticket price is returned. You can still move your visit at no cost once.
Last-minute bookings can still be moved by paying a small fee that covers slot reallocation.
Once the timeslot has passed, the ticket is considered consumed under museum policy.
How to request a refund
- Sign in to your Gemstickets account and open the order.
- Click Cancel booking and confirm the request.
- The eligible amount is sent back to your original payment method.
- Funds typically arrive within 5 – 10 business days, depending on your bank.
Booked as a guest? Email [email protected] with your order number — we'll handle the rest.
Rescheduling
You can move your visit to any other available date and time slot within 12 months of the original booking. The new slot must be confirmed before the original date passes. Differences in price (e.g. peak vs off-peak) may apply.
Force majeure & museum closures
If the Grand Egyptian Museum closes the affected day for reasons beyond anyone's control — public emergency, government decision, weather event — you receive a full refund regardless of timing, or you may reschedule for free.
Group bookings (11+ visitors)
Group bookings are governed by a separate agreement. Cancellation deadlines are typically 14 days before the visit for full refund and 7 days for 50%. Your group coordinator receives the exact terms with the booking confirmation.
Discounted tickets (Student, Senior, Child)
Discounted tickets follow the same refund tiers above. Valid ID will be checked at the museum entrance; tickets used without proper documentation are non-refundable.
Currency and fees
Refunds are issued in the original currency at the original amount. We do not retain payment processing fees. Foreign-exchange differences from your card issuer are outside our control.
